| Who
is NIDC? The
Northern Illinois Diabetes Coalition (NIDC) is your local diabetes
organization. NIDC is a registered State of Illinois Not-for-Profit
and a federal 501c3 organization. NIDC is co-sponsored by the Rockford
Regional Health Council and the University of Illinois College of
Medicine-Rockford. NIDC is located at the College of Medicine, 1601
Parkview Avenue, Rockford, IL 61107. The co-chairs can be reached
by calling 815.395.5727 or 5703.

What
we do
The
NIDC serves as a local clearinghouse for information about educational
programs,
support groups, workshops, health fairs, screenings, nutrition,
treatment advances and research.
The NIDC helps coordinate events to bring public attention to diabetes/metabolic
syndrome. Information is collected about local treatment of diabetes/metabolic
syndrome to share with health care providers to help them provide
better care.
Educational
offerings to the public and healthcare providers are important for
improved care.
Our
Mission
NIDC’s
mission is to improve the quality of care provided to persons with
diabetes/metabolic syndrome and to ensure that all, regardless of
income, color, gender, creed, language or disability have access
to continuing care.
The
ultimate goal is to improve the health of people with diabetes/metabolic
syndrome who live in the 15 county region of Northern Illinois.
Our
Objectives
•
To raise awareness that diabetes/ metabolic syndrome is a serious
disease.
•
To encourage partnerships between patients and healthcare providers
for continued health care.
•
To encourage community collaboration.
A community coming together
NIDC
is a priority of the Rockford Regional Health Council and a community
outreach organization of the University of Illinois College of Medicine
at Rockford. NIDC is a collaborative effort among physicians, nurses,
diabetes educators, dietitians, pharmacists, podiatrists and other
health care providers, people with diabetes/metabolic syndrome,
their families, friends, neighbors, and the regional hospitals and
clinics.
